City/School Election
School and City Elections are combined and held in November of odd-numbered years. A City election is used to elect the Mayor and Council Members and any other elected city officials. A School Election is an election to select School Board members within the district.

Archived Election Details

Registration Deadline- Voters who want their names to appear on the election registers on election day should preregister to vote by 5 p.m. October 20th. Visit the Secretary of State Website to register to vote by the deadline. https://sos.iowa.gov/elections/voterinformation/voterregistration.html or visit the Auditor/Recorder Office during business hours. Absentee Voting- Beginning August 26, 2025, voters may request an Absentee Ballot for the City/School Election on November 4, 2025 by filling out the “Official Iowa Absentee Ballot Request Form”. They are available at the Marshall County Auditor/Recorder’s Office, Election Center or the Marshall County website at https://elections.marshallcountyia.gov/. To request an absentee ballot by mail, you will need to complete the absentee ballot request form and return to our office by Monday, October 20th @ 5 PM. Ballots will be mailed beginning October 15th. In-person absentee voting for the City/School Election will begin on October 15th at the Marshall County Election Center, 107 S 1st Ave. In-Person absentee voting will be through Monday, November 3rd between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. ID is required.

Notice is hereby given to the qualified electors of the County of Marshall, State of Iowa, that the City/School Election will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.  The Polls for said election will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Please read this notice carefully to determine your correct voting location.  Voting locations have changed for some voters.  If you are unsure of your voting precinct for the election, please contact the Marshall County Auditor/Recorder & Commissioner of Elections at 641-754-6302 or by e-mail election@marshallcountyia.gov.  You may also verify the voting location for your home address at:https://sos.iowa.gov/elections/voterreg/pollingplace/search.aspx. Precinct Maps and Sample ballots are available on our website https://elections.marshallcountyia.gov/

 

Pre-registered voters are required to provide an approved form of identification at the polling place before receiving and casting a regular ballot. Voters who are not pre-registered – such as voters registering to vote on Election Day – and voters changing precincts must also provide proof of residence. A voter who is unable to provide an approved form of identification (or prove residence if required) 1) may have the voter’s identity/residence attested to by another registered voter in the precinct, 2) prove identity and residence using Election Day Registration documents, or 3) cast a provisional ballot and provide proof of identity/residence at the county auditor’s office by Noon on Monday, November 10, 2025. Election Day Registrant attesters must provide an approved form of identification. VOTER ACCESSIBLITY

Any voter who is physically unable to enter a polling place has the right to vote in the voter’s vehicle.  For further information, please contact the Marshall County Auditor’s office at (641)754-6302 or by e-mail at election@marshallcountyia.gov  For TTY access, dial 711 + 641-754-6302

All voting sites are fully accessible to persons with physical disabilities. Each polling place has a voter assist ballot marking device which allows persons with disabilities to vote independently. Voters may also choose another person to assist them to vote, except their employer, employer’s agent, or an officer or agent of the voter’s union.

Full Text: Shall the Board of Directors of the East Marshall Community School District in the Counties of Jasper, Marshall, Poweshiek, and Tama, State of Iowa, be authorized to levy annually a tax exceeding Two Dollars and Seventy Cents ($2.70) per Thousand Dollars ($1,000), but not exceeding Four Dollars and Five Cents ($4.05) per Thousand Dollars ($1,000) of the assessed value of the taxable property within said school corporation to pay the principal of and interest on bonded indebtedness of said school corporation, it being understood that the approval of this public measure shall not limit the source of payment of the bonds and interest, but shall only operate to restrict the amount of bonds which may be issued?

Full Text: Shall the Board of Directors of the Baxter Community School District, in the Counties of Jasper and Marshall, State of Iowa, for the purpose of purchasing and improving grounds; constructing schoolhouses or buildings and opening roads to schoolhouses or buildings; purchasing of buildings; purchase, lease or lease-purchase of technology and equipment; paying debts contracted for the erection or construction of schoolhouses or buildings, not including interest on bonds; procuring or acquisition of libraries; repairing, remodeling, reconstructing, improving, or expanding the schoolhouses or buildings and additions to existing schoolhouses; expenditures for energy conservation; renting facilities under Iowa Code Chapter 28E; purchasing transportation equipment for transporting students; lease purchase option agreements for school buildings or equipment; purchasing equipment authorized by law; or for any purpose or purposes now or hereafter authorized by law, be authorized for a period of ten (10) years to levy and impose a voter-approved physical plant and equipment tax of not exceeding Sixty-Seven Cents ($0.67) per One Thousand Dollars ($1,000) of assessed valuation of the taxable property within the school district, and be authorized annually, in combination, as determined by the board, to levy a physical plant and equipment property tax upon all the taxable property within the school district commencing with the levy of property taxes for collection in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2028, and to impose a physical plant and equipment income surtax upon the state individual income tax of each individual income taxpayer resident in the school district on December 31 for each calendar year commencing with calendar year 2027, or each year thereafter?

Full Text:  Shall the Board of Directors of the Gladbrook-Reinbeck Community School District in the Counties of Tama, Marshall, Black Hawk, and Grundy, State of Iowa, be authorized to contract indebtedness and issue General Obligation Bonds in an amount not to exceed $17,300,000 to provide funds to build, furnish, and equip a classroom addition to the Junior High / High School building, with related remodeling and improvements, and site improvements?
