NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION
MARSHALL COUNTY, STATE OF IOWA
Notice is hereby given to the residents in the unincorporated areas in Marshall County, Iowa that Marshall County has initiated action to cause the conducting of an election on the question of imposing (renewing) a one percent (1.0%) local option sales and services tax in the unincorporated areas of Marshall County. This election is to be held in Marshall County, Iowa, on March 4, 2025. The polls for said election will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Voting locations have changed for some voters for this Special Election. Precinct Maps and Sample Ballots are available on our website https://elections.marshallcountyia.gov/
The polling places shall be as follows:
Liscomb Community Center, 114 Main St, Liscomb - Residents that live in the unincorporated areas of Bangor, Liscomb & Taylor Townships
Melbourne Recreation Center, 613 Main St, Melbourne - Residents that live in the unincorporated areas of Eden, Logan, Washington & State Center Townships
LeGrand Community Building, 206 N Vine St, LeGrand - Residents that line in the unincorporated aread of Green Castle & LeGrand Townships
IVCCD Administration Building, 3702 S Center St, Marshalltown- Residents that live in the unincorporated areas of Jefferson & Timber Creek Townships
Orphan Grain Train, 302 Bevins St, Clemons- Residents that live in the unincorporated areas of Liberty, Marietta & Minerva Townships
Green Mountain Community Park Building, 111 Woolston St, Green Mountain- Residents that live in the unincorporated areas of Marion & Vienna Townships
Any voter who is physically unable to enter a polling place has the right to vote in the voter’s vehicle. For further information, please contact the Marshall County Auditor’s office at (641)754-6302 or by e-mail at election@marshallcountyia.gov For TTY access, dial 711 + 641-754-6302.
Pre-registered voters are required to provide an approved form of identification at the polling place before receiving and casting a regular ballot. The deadline to pre-register is Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 5:00 PM. Voters who are not pre-registered – such as voters registering to vote on Election Day – and voters changing precincts must also provide proof of residence. A voter who is unable to provide an approved form of identification (or prove residence if required) 1) may have the voter’s identity/residence attested to by another registered voter in the precinct, 2) prove identity and residence using Election Day Registration documents, or 3) cast a provisional ballot and provide proof of identity/residence at the county auditor’s office by Noon on Monday, March 10, 2024. Election Day Registrant attesters must provide an approved form of identification. In-Person absentee voting and mailed absentee voting will begin February 12th. In-Person Absentee voting will be at the Marshall County Courthouse, Auditor’s Office, 3rd Floor, 1 East Main St., Marshalltown. Office hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. If requesting a mailed ballot, the request form needs to be received in our office by 5 PM on February 18th.

Shall the Following Public Measure be Adopted?
Summary : To authorize imposition (renewal) of a local sales and services tax in the unincorporated area of the County of Marshall, that will continue without repeal of the existing local sales and services tax at the rate of one percent (1%) to be effective on July 1, 2025 until repealed.
Full Text: A local sales and services tax shall be imposed (renewed) in the unincorporated area of the County of Marshall that will continue without repeal of the existing local sales and services tax at the rate of one percent (1%) to be effective on July 1, 2025, until repealed.
Revenues from the sales and services tax are to be allocated as follows:
Fifty (50%) for property tax relief.
Fifty (50%) for bridge and roadway culvert repair, inspection, upkeep and replacement.

Voter Accessibility
All voting sites are fully accessible to people with physical disabilities. Each polling place has a voter assist ballot marking device which allows people with disabilities to vote independently. Voters may also choose another person to assist them to vote, except their employer, employer’s agent, or an officer or agent of the voter’s union.
