Special Election
A Special Election is any election that is not regularly scheduled. A special election may be held for any purpose authorized or required by law; often to fill a vacancy or for a public measure.
Absentee Vote by mail and in-person begins Wednesday, August 19th for the West Marshall CSD PPEL Special Election Voters may request an Absentee Ballot by filling out the “Official Iowa Absentee Ballot Request Form”. Forms are available at the Marshall County Auditor/Recorder’s Office, Marshall County Election Center or the Marshall County website at https://elections.marshallcountyia.gov/. To request an absentee ballot by mail, you will need to complete the absentee ballot request form and return to our office by August 24th. The In-Person absentee voting will begin on Wednesday, August 19th at the Marshall County Election Center, 107 S 1st Ave., through Friday, September 4th, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. ID is required. Monday, September 7, 2026, the Election Center and all other County Courthouse offices will be closed for Labor Day

NOTICE OF WEST MARSHALL CSD SPECIAL ELECTION

     MARSHALL COUNTY, STATE OF IOWA

Notice is hereby given to the qualified electors of West Marshall Community School District in the Counties of Marshall and Story in the State of Iowa, that a Special West Marshall School Election will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. The polls for said election will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Voting locations may have changed for voters for this Special Election.  Precinct Maps and Sample Ballots are available on our website https://elections.marshallcountyia.gov/

The polling places shall be as follows:

Melbourne Recreation Center- 613 Main St, Melbourne- West Marshall District Voters within Eden/Logan/Washington Precinct

Orphan Grain Train (Clemons)- 302 Bevins St, Clemons-West Marshall District Voters within Bangor/Liscomb/Taylor & Liberty/Marietta/Minerva Precincts

State Center City Hall- 118 E Main St, State Center- West Marshall District Voters within State Center Township Precinct

 

Any voter who is physically unable to enter a polling place has the right to vote in the voter’s vehicle.  For further information, please contact the Marshall County Auditor’s office at (641)754-6302 or by e-mail at election@marshallcountyia.gov   For TTY access, dial 711 + 641-754-6302.

 

Pre-registered voters are required to provide an approved form of identification at the polling place before receiving and casting a regular ballot. Voters who are not pre-registered, such as voters registering to vote on election day and voters changing precincts, must also provide proof of residence. A voter who is unable to provide an approved form of identification (or prove residence if required) may cast a provisional ballot and provide proof of identity/residence at the county auditor’s office Monday, September 14, 2026 @ Noon. Election Day Registrants may use an attester from that precinct, but attesters must provide an approved form of identification. In-Person absentee voting and mailed absentee voting begins August 19th. The last day to absentee vote in person is September 4th @ 5PM. In-Person absentee voting will be at the Marshall County Election Center, 107 S 1st Ave, Marshalltown. Office hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. If requesting a mailed ballot, the request form needs to be received in our office by 5 PM on August 24th. ID is Required.

Proposition A – West Marshall CSD PPEL

Shall the Following Public Measure be Adopted?

Shall the Board of Directors of the West Marshall Community School District, in the Counties of Marshall and Story, State of Iowa, for the purpose of purchasing and improving grounds; constructing schoolhouses or buildings and opening roads to schoolhouses or buildings; purchasing of buildings; purchase, lease or lease­purchase of technology and equipment; paying debts contracted for the erection or construction of schoolhouses or buildings, not including interest on bonds; procuring or acquisition of libraries; repairing, remodeling, reconstructing, improving, or expanding the schoolhouses or buildings and additions to existing schoolhouses; expenditures for energy conservation; renting facilities under Iowa Code Chapter 28E; purchasing transportation equipment for transporting students; lease purchase option agreements for school buildings or equipment; purchasing equipment authorized by law; or for any purpose or purposes now or hereafter authorized by law, be authorized for a period of ten (10) years, to levy annually, a voter-approved physical plant and equipment property tax not to exceed One Dollar ($1.00) per One Thousand Dollars ($1,000) of the assessed valuation of the taxable property within the school district commencing with the levy for collection in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2028, or each year thereafter?

Friday, September 4 - 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM at the Marshall County Election Center, 107 S 1st Ave.

Monday, September 7 – All County Offices are closed for Labor Day.

Election Day, September 8 - 7:00 AM- 8:00 PM at the Marshall County Election Center, 107 S 1st Ave.

 

VOTER ACCESSIBLITY

All voting sites are fully accessible to persons with physical disabilities. Each polling place has a voter assist ballot marking device which allows persons with disabilities to vote independently. Voters may also choose another person to assist them to vote, except their employer, employer’s agent, or an officer or agent of the voter’s union.

ELECTION RESULTS
Results for the West Marshall CSD Special Election will be posted on the Marshall County website: https://elections.marshallcountyia.gov. Results are not official until the final canvass is conducted on September 15, 2026.
